Malaysia Connector - Singapore to Penang - 7 Days

singaporeDay 1: Singapore to Tampin to Malacca
Meet at your hotel lobby (along Orchard Road) at 6:30am, where you will transfer to the train station for the train departing at 8:45am (train timing subject to change), for Tampin, Malacca. Enjoy the rural scenery as the train passes through villages and plantations. Arrive at Tampin railway station at 1300hrs where you will be met by your driver/guide. Continue on a tour of the historic sites such as Cheng Hoon Teng Temple - the oldest functioning Chinese temple in Malaysia., Kampung Kling Mosque, Jonker Street (Antique Row), Baba and Nyonya Museum, Stadhuy's Building, Malacca Clock Tower, Christchurch, and the famous Porta de Santiago.

Day 2: Malacca to Kuala Lumpur
Depart at 8:30am for Kuala Lampur, Malaysia's capital city. Upon arrival you will be given a tour of the King's Palace, National Mosque and Railway Station, National Monument, Independence Square, Sultan Abdul Samad building, Selangor Club, St. mary's Church and the world's tallest free standing flagpole. The tour resumes for a visit to the Seri Mahamariaman Temple and the colourful Chinatown for bargain hunting.

Before checking into your hotel, visit the tallest Communications Tower in South East Asia for a stunning panoramic view of the ciy and the Petronas Twin Tower, the highest twin tower in the world.

Day 3: Kuala Lumpur
After breakfast, you will go on a tour of the Countryside, visiting a pewter factory, the Batu caves - the holy, sacred cave temple for the Hindus, and a batik factory. The rest of the day is at your leisure to discover the good bargans and cozy cafes and restaurants of Kuala Lampur, the happening city!

Day 4: Kuala Lumpur to Cameron Highlands
Depart at 8:30am for Cameron Highlands, located at 1542m above sea level, and noted for its tea plantations and cool temperatures. Stop on the way for a visit to see the cottage industry of basket weaving followed by Lata Iskander Waterfall. Be immersed in the cool, crisp air of Cameron Highlands with its wonderful scenery. Your tour of Cameron Highlands consists of the tea plantation, tea factory, market place and a butterfly farm.

 

Day 5: Cameron Highlands to Penang
Early morning departure for Penang. En route, you will visit the Sam Poh Tong cave temple, and a stop at the Royal town of Kuala Kangsar to photograph the exterior of Ubudiah Mosque, Iskandariah Palace and Istana Kenangan. Continue on to Kuala Sepetang mangrove forest, the best-managed mangrove forest in Malaysia, and one that serves a very important ecologival role in protecting the coastline from erosion. Delight in the novelty of walkking through natural mangroves on a boardwalk. Kuala Sepetang produces the bulk of the nation's top quality mangrove charcoal, and your tour will include a visit to a working charcoal kiln. Corss over to Penang, better known as the "Pearl of the Orient", via one of the longest bridges in the world.

 

Day 6: Discovery Tour of Georgetown, Penang
Depart your hotel at 9:00am for a City, Culture, and Heritage tour of Georgetown, which was officially declared a UNESCO site in 2008. Visit the 3rd longest reclining Buddha figure in the world, followed by Kek Lok Si Temple, also known as Temple of 1000 Buddhas, built in 1904. It is the most beautiful and largest Buddhist temple complex in South East Asia. Next, visit Fort Cornwallis, the landing site of Captain Francis Light when he arrived to start the first British colony in Penang in 1786. The tour carries on with a visit to the water village of The Clan Jetties at Weld Quay, so named as residents of each jetty share a similar surname. Continue along to Pitt Street, also known as “The Street of Harmony”. Here churches, Chinese temples, mosques and Hindu temples are built side by side in harmonious existence for centuries. Visit the intricate Khoo Kong Si clan’s house and enjoy a breezy trishaw ride, a still popular mode of transport in Georgetown. Return to the hotel and the rest of the day is at your own leisure. In the late evening, you can explore the nightlife along Batu Ferringhi, Penang style!.

 

Day 7: Depart Penang
Transfer to airport for your onward flight.
